MINUTES
MONTICELLO LIBRARY BOARD
Monday, February 25, 1985 - 7:00 P.M.
Members Present: Marge Bauer, Joel. Erickson, Pat Schwarz,
Warren Smith, Marguerete Pringle.
Members Absent: Donald Maus
1. Smoking policy in the community room: There is no smoking
allowed in the community roomJhowever, it seems we need
to remind users of the room and ask them to cooperate.
2. Kathryn Clark painting - the painting was presented for
viewing. Warren will officially accept and thank the
family. POlicy for future gifts to library: "Donation
will be accepted at the discretion of the Library Board."

3. Heating unit replacement at the library - The City has
looked into the problem of our heating unit and it is
obvious that something will have to be done. A final
decision on installing a new gas unit will be made this
summer. (See Warren's notes on this in agenda.)
4. 1984 budget review - report on revenues and expenditures
were sent to board members. Good news: Revenues exceed
expenses.
5. Lobby displays - Arlene Opstad has been in charge of changing
library display case each month. Our thanks to her for
interesting displays.
6. Cabinet surrounds from Gene Walters - no sign of these
as yet.
7. By-laws - Marge feels it would be good for the board to
have by-laws. The community is pretty much unaware of
the Board and the way it works. Warren says he will draw
up by-laws for the board's approval.
8. Zoon lens - A motion was made and passed to purchase a
zoom lens for the library camera.
9. Video problems - There are a couple of library users that
are less than considerate about borrowing library videos.
We decided to petition head-quarters for more tapes.
Pat will also bring our need up at the next regional board
meeting.

10. Restrooms - The tile in the restrooms has been replaced.
This was taken care of in November 1984.
