MINUTES
MONTICELLO LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
1993 BUDGET MEETING
Monday, August 17, 1992
Members Present:
Ed Solberg, Mary Jane Puncochar, Duff Davidson, Ruby
Bensen, Vern Oleksowicz, and Librarian Marge Bauer
Members Absent:
Becky J esinski
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by President Ed Solberg.
A motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting of September 23, 1992, was
made by Mary Jane Puncochar and seconded by Duff Davidson. Motion carried.
New Business
1. Election of officers. A motion was made by Mary Jane Puncochar and
seconded by Duff Davidson to elect Ed Solberg as President, Duff Davidson as
Vice President, and Ruby Bensen as Secretary. Motion carried.
2.
A discussion was held concerning the missing letters and numbers on the
library sign. Suggestions were made, including a) installation of plexi-glass
over the whole sign; b) having the hours painted on; and c) lighting the sign
better to discourage the vandalism. Duff Davidson volunteered to get quotes
from area electricians for lighting expenses.
3. Marge Bauer expressed a need for additional shelving in the children's section
for additional books and toys. Suggestions were made for mobile units such
as the school uses in kindergarten rooms, shelving above what already exists,
and bin shelving that is used in other regional libraries. Space is a
consideration since 36 inches is required between shelves.
4. 1993 Budget. 5% increase for Jerry Hermes. $301 increase.
The budget was discussed item by item and a total budget of $30,077 will be
requested. A motion was made by Duff Davidson and seconded by Mary Jane
Puncochar to accept the budget. Motion carried.
5. The Americans with Disabilities Act was discussed. We will need to look at
the width of aisles, counter heights, and considerations to visual and hearing
impaired.
6. A motion was made by Duff Davidson and seconded by Mary Jane Puncochar
to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
