City Council Resolution 1982-49RESOLUTION 1982 #49 RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH WHEN BUILDING PERMITS ARE NOT REQUIRED WHEREAS, the City of Monticello requires that all building and relevant work be done only after securing a building permit, and; WHEREAS, the City Council realize that there might be occasions when obtaining a building permit might become an unnecessary requirement due to the nature of work being done; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a building permit shall NOT be required under the following conditions, although inspections of the same may be required by the Building Official at his descretion. BUILDING PERMIT POLICY A BUILDING PERMIT IS NOT REQUIRED WHEN: 1. The amount of work to be done is less than $800.00 and requires no structural change. 2. When reroofing or residing is to be done and no structural repair will be done. 3. A portable building of less than 100 square feet is to be placed on a lot, provided that it will be the only accessory building in addition to the garage. 4. When driveways, sidewalks, and other similar hardsurface accessories are placed on a property. 5. For the installation of wood burning fireplaces or stoves.
