Or,:ay 29, 1973, Z signed an Executive Order whicg: provides for the division.
of Region. 7 into Region 7 East consisting of Chisago, isanti, Kanabec,
~:ille Lacs, and Pine Counties and Region 7 West consisting of Benton,
Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright Counties. This was done as a result of
resolutions passed by all the county boards in Region 7 and a number of
ruricipalities .
Now that the boundaries of the two new regions have been established, it
is approp:iste for you to aga~~n pass resolutions asking for tl.e crea.~~oz:
of regional development commissions within the two regions. I have bee..
~,:o.d by the State Planning Agency that many of you passed such resolutions
before the boundary changes were made. Therefore, there should be no
difficulty in your again passing these resolutions. Copies of a model
resolution and my Executive Order are enclosed.
rs I have indicated, I strongly support the concept of intergovernmental
ccoperation through regional development commissions. You may be sure
t;:at you will have the full support of my office and the State Planning
Agency in organizing and operating as a regional development commission.

9, Wendel; R. Anderson, Governor of the State of Pinnesota, pursuant
to the authority c~nd responsibility assigned to me by Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 4,
Section 452.383 through 462.396, do hereby order the following "sn regard to the
delineation of development regions:
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 462.3$5, Subdivisions 3 and 3, provide
that modification of the development regions can be initiated by one county; and
WHEREAS, the nine counties comprising Region 7 have asked for modifi-
cation of the bo~~ndaries of Region 7; and
Wr-1cREAS, a meeting has been held to determine the extent of desire fo
change in the boundaries on the part of local. elected officials and the majority of
local elected officials attending the meeting was strongly in support of the proposed
change;
l\lOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor
and State Planning Officer of the State of Minnesota, I hereby order That:
1 . Region 7 shall be divided into two new regions as follows:
P.egion 7E shall consist of the counties of Chisago, Isanti,
Kanabec, Mi I 1 e Lacs and Pine; /~
Re ion 7W shall consist of the counties of Benton, Sherburne, Y
g
Stearns, and Wright.
2. State agencies which are using the original Region 7 for
planning and administrative purposes may continue to do
so. Regions 7E and 7W have been delineated primarily
to facilifiate the formation of regional commissions by the
local governments in the i~wo regions.
