IEDC Minutes 06-07-2016MINUTES INDUSTRIAL & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE (IEDC) Tuesday, June 7, 2016 — 7:00 a.m., Boom Island Room, Monticello Community Center Present: Steve Johnson, Joni Pawelk, Luke Dahlheimer, Dick Van Allen, Jim Johnson, Don Roberts, Darek Vetsch, Don Tomann, 011ie Koropchak- White, Jason Kisner, Mari Lou McCormic, Andrew Tapper Absent: Wayne Elam, Timothy O'Conner Other: Jeff O'Neill, Jim Thares, Brian Stumpf, Lloyd Hilgart, Marcy Anderson, Dave Tombers, Duane Northhagen, Tim Hennagir 1. Call to Order Steve Johnson called the meeting to order at 7 a.m. 2. Approve Minutes DICK VAN ALLEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MAY 3, 2015 IEDC MEETING. OLLIE KOROPCHAK -WHITE SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 12 -0. 4. Consideration of adding items to the agenda None 5. Reports a. Economic Development: Staff provided updates related to Kerry Burri's resignation, replacement process and timeline. The Dahlheimer expansion was also reviewed. The expansion is an approximately 97,100 sq. ft. +/- addition to the warehouse and will help accommodate ongoing growth and add another five positions to the firm. The results of the Block 34 environmental study were also reviewed. There are not any significant findings of contamination; mainly related to upper levels of soil that will need to be removed when development eventually occurs. Steve Johnson added comments about the EDA visioning meeting held on June 2, 2016. Focusing on the downtown redevelopment is the main objective with industrial growth and recruitment the second priority and housing goals involving new life cycle product and revitalization being the third area of focus. b. City Council: Jeff O'Neill updated members on the Fallon Avenue overpass progress. He also provided an update on the City street construction projects occurring in the City. Staff and Council representatives responded to questions. c. Chamber of Commerce & Industry: Marcy Anderson offered a large thank you to those who participated in the Chamber Golf Tournament. Consideration of requested change in membership It was noted that Timothy O'Conner, Xcel Energy, has asked to be replaced on the IEDC by Pete Gardener, Xcel Energy. DAREK VETSCH MOVED TO ACCEPT TIMOTHY O'CONNER'S RESIGNATION FROM THE IEDC. DON ROBERTS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 12 -0. DAREK VETSCH MOVED TO APPOINT PETE GARDNER, XCEL ENERGY, TO THE IEDC. DICK VAN ALLEN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 12 -0. 7. Consideration of an update regarding 2016 City Construction Proiects Jeff O'Neill updated members on a large feedlot that is proposed near the City of Monticello. There is a public hearing coming up at Wright County. It seems as though it will be of little impact to the City because of the distance it is located from the corporate boundaries. 8. Table Topic — Monticello School District Development Proiects• Jim Johnson, Sup't., reported on the myriad projects and the timeline of each one involving improvements at multiple school buildings in the community. The members voiced support for the school district projects. JOANIE PAWELK MOVED TO OFFER IEDC SUPPORT TO THE PINEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. DICK VAN ALLEN SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 12 -0. 9. Consideration of a report from business and industry 011ie Koropchak -White gave a quick update and invite to the other members to partake in a tour of the Monticello Centra -Care Hospital at 7:00 a.m. on June 23. Joanie Pawelk also updated members on the upcoming improvements to the Same Day Surgical facilities at the Hospital. 10. Adiournment DAREK VETSCH MOVED TO ADJOURN AT 7:47 A.M.
