City Council Resolution 2009-26RESOLUTION NO. 2009-26 SUMMARY PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 497 WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a lengthy ordinance titled "Signs", establishing regulations governing signage, and WHEREAS, as authorized by Minnesota Statutes, Section 412.191, subd. 4, the City Council has determined that publication of the title and summary of the ordinance will clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinances; and WHEREAS, a printed copy of the ordinance is available for inspection during the regular office hours in the office of the city clerk -administrator. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following summaries of the ordinance is approved for publication: CITY OF MONTIcCELLO, MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 497 The Sign Ordinance establishes certain zoning regulations for signs in an effort to provide adequate means of expression and to promote the economic viability of the business community. The ordinance establishes regulations for the number, location, size, type, illumination and other physical characteristics of signs within the City in order to promote the public health, safety and welfare. The ordinance includes revisions from the previous ordinance pertaining to: limits of temporary signage, language regulating the type and characteristics of dynamic displays, and allowances for commercial and industrial district sign size, height and setback. The ordinance also includes definitions and illustrations specific to the regulation of signage. The Sign Ordinance sets forth the requirements for signage as Chapter 3A of the Monticello Zoning Ordinance. The ordinance is effective the day after publication.
