Continued ,Special Meeting of the City Council
January 7, 1975 - 4:00 P.M. City Hall
Meeting continued from recessed meeting of January 6, 1975•
All council members present with exception of Denton Erickson.
Meeting was continued from January 6, 1975 for purposes of
discussing personnel policies. Mayor Johnson explained that
a public works department would be set up comprised of the
present sewer & water department and street & park department.
Mayor Johnson read duties and authority of city administrator
as set by the council.
Gary Wieber, acting city administrator, explained what he
expected of employees and what they should expect of him.
Wieber mentioned he welcomed ideas and suggestions from city
employees but once a policy has been set hoped everyone would
go along with it. In his presentation Wieber mentioned a chain
of command would be established from employee on up to the
city council. In addition a Monday employee meeting will be
initiated.
Mayor Johnson then announced that the meeting was open to
discussion and welcomed comments.
The possibility of changing the hours of the liquor store
was discussed. In addition, the cleaning problem was men-
tioned.
At this point the newly created Public Works Department was
discussed and was reviewed as to its workings.
The possibility of purchasing a smaller vehicle for the streets
and parks was discussed.
It was mentioned that Dick Brooks and Walt Mack both receive
a straight monthly salary. Both were agreeable to this
suggestion.
Meeting adjourned at 5:15 P.M.
