Regular meeting of Planning Commission -- Wednesday, January 5. 1972--
1:10 P. M.
Meeting called to order by Robert Davie, chairman. Dale tungvita. Fred
Tooel, J. W. Miller, Jr. were present. Absent were Grant Schleif and
Lamy Flake.
Secretary advised that Con Johnson had not been accepted by the village
council to fill the vacancy created by Father Gearty's moving to St. Paul.
Cowdeaion directed secretary to present James Maus to the next council
meeting as a candidate for the Planning Commission.
Bob Davis reported that word received from Robert Rasmussen, secretary
Of Minnesota Municipal Comndesion, indicated that they were unable to
render decision regarding annexation, because they were awaiting final
information from attorneys.
Charles Tooker outlined a proposed plan for downtown area. Some features
for long range olanninR includedi widening sidewalks along Broadway and
reducing street to one lane traffic and parking lane each way after
C Riphway 152 to vacated; closing Walnut Street between Went Third and
River Street; closing Pine Street between Third and River if RigRnay 25
is relocated to Cedar. Provide oarkinR lot on business block from
Alliance Church to Monticello Cleaners. Plan to concentrate business
district from Cedar to Linn and encourage professional services to locate
on periferal area.
