City Council Minutes 10-08-1973 SpecialSpecial meeting of the Village Council - October 8, 1973 - 700 P. M.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. in the Village Hall by Mayor
Bill Sandberg. Council members present: Blonigen, Martie, Rowan. One
council member position remained vacant due to the resignation of Walt Markling
on September 26, 1973. Council consensus is to leave this position vacated
until the election of November b, 1973.:
A presentation was made by the Village auditor, Mr. Gary Wieber, regarding a
Liquor Store audit report for the 4 month period terminating August 31, 1973.
Mr. Wieber stated the Iiquor Store profit percentage is the best since the
third quarter of 1970• Bill Sandberg stated U. S. Treasury Bills should be
considered as a possible alternative for Liquor Stare investments. The
CAdministrator will follow-up on this. A motion to accept the audit report
as presented for the 4 -month period ending August 31, 1973 was made by Jeff
Rowan, seconded by Dick Martie. Voting in favor: Blonigen, Martie, Rowan,
Sandberg. Opposed: None. Motion carried.
JA discussion was held concerning the tax levy for calendar year, 1974. A
tentative agreement was reached on this levy which will be finalized at the
meeting of October 23, 1973.
A discussion was held concerning wages and benefits for employees of the Village
and the Municipal Liquor Store. A tentative settlement was reached and the
Administrator was instructed to check on the legality of the settlement which
will be finalized at the meeting of October 23, 1973.
The Administrator stated that a tree -cutting bid received by the Village has
now been cancelled. The Administrator was requested to advertise for bids
for tree removal. Separate bids will be requested for tree -cutting and
tree removal.
The Administrator was authorized, no vote, to have Fred Brenteson place a
blacktop overlay on the Municipal Liquor Store parking lot at the estimated
$500.00 figure (over an area which village personnel have blacktopped.)
A motion to adjourn was made by Dan Blonigen, seconded by Dick Martie. Voting
in favor: Blonigen, Martie, Rowan, Sandberg, Opposed: None. Motion carried.
