City Council Minutes 06-17-1971 SpecialVILLAGE OF MONTICELLO Monticello, Minnesota 55362 June 17, 1971 The village council met in special meeting in the activity room of the Monticello High School at 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 17th. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct a public hearing on the proposed sewer, water, street and curb and gutter improvements. Mavor Schleif called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M. with Council_ men Sandberg, Maus, Markling, Martie. Absent: "done. Between 175 and 200 residents were also in attendance. Philip Chenoweth, Ehlers and Associates, explained the proposed financing of the project and the approximate tax increase for each property holder. Thore Mever, explained the reasons for the proposed project -- to provide adequate water drainage, to correct dead water areas in the water system, to correct minor deficiencies in sanitary sewer lines and to provide interchange drainage in cooperation with State Highway Department. Virgil Brackney and Peter Clare were among those asking questions of clarification. Mrs. F. E. Ellison, Mrs. Jean Bland, Mrs. L. Muehlbauer, Mr. Cliff Soltau and numerous others spoke against the project. General consensus of the residents indicated an agreement to put in storm sewer, correct sanitary sewer and water system and re- pair the streets. The proposal to rebuild streets and set curb and gutter did not receive favorable approval. Hearing adjourned at 9:45 P. M. on Gr'yfiund,, Clerk DGflg
