Minutes of January 11., 1072 read and approved.
Kalt Markling introduced flh.e reason for Calling the special meeting,:
Ya-
yor 14illiam Sandberg had. increased the tax Tevv at the county
auditor's office without council, -approval. The increase of � 25000
increased the l.evv, approximately .20 mills to 106.1 over the pre.
viousl,� approved levy of P6.4.
Much discussion on the need /not need of the increase fol.,lowed citing
year end surplus fund in General Fund - $30,000; Sewer Fund - $23,000;
and Liquor Fund - $809000,
'ATT liam Sandberg relinquished chair to Dan Blonigeng acting mayor, and
made motion that council adopt resolution to adopt tax levy of $93,477
at 106.1 mills. Second by Jeff Rowan. In favor** Sandberg, Rowan,
Blonigen. Rowan commented that sever rates could be reduced if too
much surplus accumulates. Against** Martie and Markling with comment
that increasing levy is not necessary on basis of existing surpluses
and assurance of adequate revenues.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 P. M. to meet with Monticello Township
Uommissioners to discuss fire protection.
